PitBoss to Detect Bots and More in Online Casinos
Mar 17, 2009
An Israeli software developer, CogniSafe, have released new software called PitBoss. The new software will help prevent fraud and cheating that have been perpetrated at online casinos and in online poker rooms recently.
Much of the cheating that has been done on Internet gambling sites has been carried out by using robots, or bots, as they are called. The bots, or other cheating software, play the games instead of people and have a much higher chance of winning as they never get tired and can follow patterns.
PitBoss is able to monitor both the customers and the operators. The software can detect known methods of fraud and also new threats that are emerging. PitBoss compares the way in which players play the game against algorithms and mathematical models. Being able to find the deviations from regular play helps to show the fraudulent players’ attacks which are perpetrated by computers.
The fraud detection software runs in real time, which is an important factor in this kind of software as fraudulent play needs to be detected as soon as possible. Play is not affected or slowed down by the software.
A CogniSafe spokesperson explained that non only can PitBull operate by itself, without supervision, but that it is also able to self-learn and adapt to possible new dishonest attacks that may occur.
The research for PitBoss began last year when CogniSafe and a United States investment company, 21 Ventures, combined in order to find a solution to the problem of online gambling cheating.
