Mac Vs PC Users at Online Casinos
Apr 16, 2009
While there is much competition in the PC versus Mac computer world, there is no question who is better catered to at online casinos. Windows computers make up the majority of the computer market worldwide, even though the US Mac market share is around 15%. There are of course Linux users who make up an even smaller percentage of the market and suffer many of the same problems as Mac users with regards to online casino software.
Windows users are able to download online casino software, which is the best and most effective way of playing online casino games. When Mac users are able to play online casino games, the only option usually available is to play through a web browser using the Flash technology. This technology relies heavily on a good Internet connection, and play and graphics are not as good quality as in the downloadable versions.
Although the US Mac market share is nothing to be sneezed at, online casino software providers do not seem to feel that it will bring them enough return on their investment to develop software exclusively for Mac computers.
Many online casinos do not even mention that they are only Windows compatible. They simply assume that everybody uses Windows software, which is obviously not the case. When approached with questions regarding software for Macintosh computers, some online casinos have either avoided the question, as if Mac does not exist, or simply stated that they do not cater to Mac users.
Mac users may have better operating systems, but this will not get them very far when it comes to better online casino games.
