Football: Manchester City to Sign Arsenal Defender

football / soccer

Manchester City are reportedly days away from signing Arsenal defender Kolo Toure, for a figure in the region of £15 million.
City were originally interested in the Ivorian defender back in January, however it seems that John Terry’s refusal to move to the Eastlands club prompted owners and manager Mark Hughes to try again for the 28 year old defender.

Kolo, whose brother Yaya currently plays for La Liga champions Barcelona, has apparently agreed terms over a potential move, however it is not known whether London club Arsenal are willing to let the bold defender go. After playing in a pre-friendly match in Hungary, Gunners manager Arsene Wenger spoke of the deal "We will see what’s happening in the next 24 hours, nothing is decided yet. We have seven centre-backs and I am in the position where I have to play some in midfield but of course Kolo is a very good player and we will see what will happen in the next 24 hours."

Toure, who has already played 236 games and scored 14 goals for Arsenal, handed in a transfer request in January after failing to pick up a regular starting place in previous seasons.
Manchester city’s transfer activities this summer have really shown their determination and future aspirations. The club have already signed Manchester Utd’s star striker Carlos Tevez, Arsenal’s sterling forward Adebayor, as well Villa’s Gareth Barry and Hughes long admired target Roque Santa Cruz.
