ESPN Magazine Feature Detailed Expose of Phil Ivey
Oct 29, 2009
7 WSOP bracelet winner Phil Ivey has appeared on the front cover of ESPN Magazine following an expose which documents his jet-setting exploits of casinos and craps tables around the world. Starting in Connecticut and onto Montreal and Amsterdam, the documented story followed Ivey as he moves from craps tables in private rooms around the world placing $30,000 to $50,000 for each hand alone.
The article, entitled “4 Days, 3 Nights, $1 Million”, has been published in the widely distributed ESPN magazine as a means of publicizing the different varieties of poker, and increasing the scope, nature and brand of Phil Ivey and poker in general.
Parts of the expose enlighten readers as to the specific sources of Ivey’s phenomenal wealth, for instance when Ivey apprised that he made $16.6 million from billionaire Andy Beal as part of the “Corporation” three years ago. Chad Millman (part of Ivey’s close entourage) also mentions that while Ivey stands to earn $8 million from making the final table of the WSOP, he’s actually already involved in $4 million worth of side bets.
Along with several other details and expositions of his life, the article “4 Days, 3 Nights, $1 Million” also focuses on many aspects of Ivey’s high-life society lifestyle. Playing golf with Michael Jordan, exchanging texts with Michael Phelps is just a dilettante glimpse of Ivey. The young pro also has $500,000 cars, lives on a golf course in Las Vegas, and in his own office has “three computer monitors, five flat-screen televisions, and the arcade version of Pac-Man”.
