Study done on Internet Poker and the State of California
Feb 08, 2010
A study has been released by the CTBA this week. This study was done on the revenue impacts of Internet poker taking place in the state of California.
Mike Genest, the former Director of the California Department of Finance is the one who conducted this study and he has estimated the revenue that the state of California could see from a proposal which is currently in the discussion phase.
This proposal is about the possible licensing and tax intrastate of online poker.
This proposal makes claim to the fact that legalizing Internet Poker for the state of California could act as a huge solution to the state’s current budget crisis.
Back in August of last year, a plan had been proposed which asked for the legalization of online poker in the state of California. However, no legislator was willing to sign the legislation.
This proposal has now found its way back and the Senate Governmental Organization Committee is expected to take a look at the issue on February 9th, 2010.
For anyone interested in reading what the study has found with regards to how legalizing Internet poker in California would help the budget, it can be viewed in its entirety on the website, www.caltba.com.
After all of the recent ups and downs Internet poker has been seeing the last few years, it looks like there is once again a reason for online poker players to cross their fingers.
They just won’t want to hold their breath for too long. It seems that the legalization of online gambling takes two steps backward for each step forward in recent years.
