Microgaming signed a licensing agreement with Warner Bros. Digital Entertainment. The agreement give the online casino software company permission to release the branded Warner Bros. Lord of the Rings movie trilogy, as video slot games. The movie trilogy is based on the well-known novels by J.R.R. Tolkien.

Microgaming has been granted permission to use actual graphics from the movie trilogy. The movies The Fellowship of the Ring, The Two Towers, and The Return of the King, all won the Oscar awards for the Best Visual Effects. This will assure players that the graphics that will come with this exciting slot release are sure to be of the top quality possible.

Microgaming’s Chief Executive Officer said, “We’re excited about creating state-of-the-art video slots from the best movie trilogy of the decade. We look forward to bringing The Lord of the Rings into the online gaming sphere, where our expertise in game quality and speed to market will ensure its success. The Lord of the Rings has a huge entrenched fan base with over 97% awareness of the film franchise, as well as phenomenal and unprecedented home video success."

Microgaming was the first online casino software company to release a branded game. The first branded game release was based on the video game, Tomb Raider. More recently, in January, Microgaming released Hellboy, a branded video slot release, based on the Dark Horse Comics character.

No release date has been announced yet, so players should keep their eyes open for this very exciting slot release.
