Gambling Problems seen increasing in Female Population

Gambling problems used to be a concern which was largely focused on men. It used to be a rare thing for a woman to have problems controlling their gambling. However, it appears as if the gambling problems have no gender based bias and all are at risk.

Recent findings have shown that women are quickly catching up to men when it comes to gambling addictions. It has been found that as many as 44 percent of the United States gambling addiction sufferers are female.

There are more than 15 million people who show signs of some type of gambling addiction, this is a huge number.

One interesting fact about lotteries is that households with an annual income under $10,000 bet almost three times as much on lotteries as households with annual incomes above $50,000. Women represent many of those lottery players.

Internet gambling also has just about doubled since the year 1997; once again, many of those Internet gamblers also include women.

The average debt which is incurred by a person with a gambling problem is around $55,000 for men and $15,000 for women.

What was once considered mainly a man’s habit has taken a turn and now has its eyes on both sexes. Gambling of any kind can be a lot of fun and very enjoyable. However, anyone who gambles, whether a man or a woman will want to make sure that their habit doesn’t spin put of control and take a strong hold on them which is difficult to overcome.
