Usain Bolt claimed yet another world record after a stunning victory in the 200m final at the World Championships.
Bolt managed to set a time of 19.19 seconds – notching off 0.11 seconds off his previous record recorded in Beijing last year.
The 22-year old again finished the race well clear of opposition, and has further cemented his place as a true athletic legend.
Alonso Edward came second in the 200m with a time of 19.81 seconds – although still over half a second longer than Bolt. American Wallace Spearmon came in third place.
Usain Bolt has now become the first man to hold the 100m and 200m world and Olympic titles at the same time.

After a nervy opening in the race which was Frenchman Davit Alerte make a false start, Bolt streaked off – taking the lead inside the first 20m.
After storming round the racetrack with all eyes focused on him, he managed to completely rid himself of the chasing pack and pointed at hi record time after crossing the line.
Following a car crash earlier this year, Bolt had warned media-hyped journalists and followers that a record-breaking gig wasn’t planned. However after today’s unbelievable race, it now seems nothing is beyond the Olympian now known as “Lightning Bolt.”

After the race, Bolt told cameras: ‚ÄúI can definitely say I didn’t expect that because I was a little bit tired. I said let’s try because people are really looking out for this, I said it won’t hurt to try. So I tried really hard and now I’m really tired. Maybe next time I should just run the 200m or the 100m alone. My form was going backwards. I wasn’t running upright. It wasn’t a good race but it was a fast one."

Bolt, who turns 23 tomorrow, set three world records in Beijing last summer and his breathtaking performances have enhanced his reputation as the best sprinter of all time.
"I definitely showed people that my world records in Beijing were not a joke."
America‚Äôs Shawn Crawford, who finished fourth, admitted his fawning admiration for Bolt: "Just coming out there, I’m just waiting for the lights to flash ‘game over,’ because I felt like I was in a video game," said Crawford. "That guy was moving – fast."
Overall, Bolt’s ascension onto the international and public stage has been one of incredible physical and historical feat. The incredible story of the 22 year old Jamaican has attracted attention from all sects of life including sporting enthusiasts, journalists, analyst; and now even sports and anthropological scientists.
Looking back at previous records in Olympic and athletic racings events, all records set in the last 50 or so years have been incremental improvements – usually 0.03 seconds on average between records.
However with Bolt’s rapid times, the 22 year old phenomenon has completely buck the trend, setting records sometimes 0.15 seconds better than before.

100m record-breaker Usain Bolt is also set to break records for the 200m event after passing through the first qualifying heat.

Bolt finished his 200m in an admirable 20.7 seconds. Tyson Gay – who set his own personal record in the 100m – had to pull out of the event with a groin injury. Britain’s Marlon Devonish and Paul Hession also qualified.

Notably, Gay’s withdrawal from the 200m will surely increase Bolt’s chances of winning another Gold for the 200m Final on Thursday. Reporters on the ground noted Bolt looked slightly tired before the race, and the unusually quick 22-year old declined to give interviews after his qualification race.

British runner Devonish became his country‚Äôs only sportsman to win his 200m heat, in 20.92 seconds. "It’s always a bit weary doing your first run, you don’t know what’s going to happen. It doesn’t get any easier, especially with the guys running so quickly these days, but I had a good start and ran well. I’m just pleased to have won my first round and I’m looking forward to pushing on and hopefully reaching the semi-finals."

For the 400m track event, defending champion Jeremy Wariner and Olympic champion Lashawn Merritt passed through into the Semi’s after winning their heats.

Defending champion Wariner progressed in the 400m event in 45.54s, with Merritt receiving 45.23s. Wariner said "It was a great race, I’m feeling good. It’s the semis tomorrow so I’ll come out and step it up a notch. Last year was a good year and I plan on coming out on top again. Training’s been going well and I had some good races. My times weren’t amazing but they didn’t need to be. I’m here, I’m ready and now I’ll step it up."

Britain will be happy to see three British entrants make it through the event, with Robert Tobin, Michael Bingham and Martyn Rooney all progressing. "I felt really relaxed down the back straight," said Tobin, after winning his heat one in 45.50. "I have been working very hard on my technique and could see I was in the lead so I was able to relax. It was nice and comfy. I’ve had year after year of injury and this winter was the first time I’ve been injury free. I’m fit and healthy and ready to run."

In the other World Championship Events, Ethiopia’s Kenenisa Bekele claimed his fourth successive 10,000m world title after a stunning performance in Berlin.

The Ethiopian also set a new championship record of 26 minutes 45 seconds.
Bekele, who has never personally been beaten in this even, has now equaled the four 10,000m world titles Haile Gebreselassi won down the years.

Shelly-Ann Fraser won the women’s 100m in 10.73 seconds with Keron Stewart coming in second.

Olympic Galactos Usain Bolt thinks he’s capable of beating his 9.58s 100m record set yesterday.
After shaving off 0.11 seconds off his record-breaking time from Beijing last year, the 22 year old now says he targeting an unbelievable 9.4 seconds. "I think it will stop at 9.4 but you never know. I don’t run for world records. I’ll just keep on working."

The Jamaican Triple Olympic champion has already broken a plethora of records and won much attention. However Tyson Gay ‚Äì the previous world champion – who yesterday achieved the fastest record set by an American of 9.71 seconds said he wasn‚Äôt surprised at all with Bolt. "I’ve been telling you someone could run 9.5. I’m happy he did it. It showed a human can take it to another level. Unfortunately, I wasn’t the one to do it but I still have confidence I can do it one day."
Usain Bolt is also set to race the 200m where he’s likely to break more records.

Triple Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt broke more world records today at the World Championships in Berlin. The 22-year old Jamaican pulled off a 9.58s 100m – shaving 0.11 seconds off his previous record in Beijing last year. Second got Tyson Gay with anew America record what is now set to 9.71sec.
Usain Bolt booked his place in the 100m event final after sailing through his semi-final in typical fashion.
Bolt recorded 9.89 seconds in his semi-final qualifying round. Britain suffered an unfortunate incidence however as their 100m runner Tyrone Edgar was disqualified.
Bolt managed to record a respectable 9.89 after a false start, with the Jamaican reporting a sterner test than he had anticipated. However the Jamaican world-renowned star still managed to relax in archetypical Bolt-style – with 40 meters left to go. In the Olympic qualifying events, athletes will be disqualified for making more than one false start during races. The strict rules also stipulate any false starts by other players in the same heat of races will be disqualified. 27 yr old Edgar found this out the hard way, after judges had decided but then reprieved the decision later. "I don’t think it was a false start. To me it looked pretty good but there is nothing I can do. I am not going to argue the point. I am disappointed right now because I reckon I would have made the final."

Britain‚Äôs Dwain Chambers also managed to make it to the finals with a 10.04 second sprint. He said afterwards ‚ÄúIt is a dream come true. It’s tough out there. Just to be competing again these guys is a bit daunting but I relied on my experience and I just ran. Once you are in the final, anything can happen. I am grateful to be in this position and I am going to enjoy it."

American Tyson Gay also pulled through after winning his semi-final in 9.93 seconds flat, beating off Bolt’s Jamaican countryman Asada Powell and Trinidad’s Richard Thomson.
