EverestPoker to Sponsor Fabrice ‘FabSoul’ Soulier
Companies signing up professional players for sponsorship agreements is common in most sports, and that is what EverestPoker.com, one of the leading online poker rooms in the world, did recently by signing up Fabrice ‘FabSoul’ Soulier, a professional poker player from France.
The deal is being touted as a two-fold strategy by EverestPoker, which is owned by GigaMedia, a company based out of Taiwan – increase its support for the poker industry in France and also enhance its position in the French poker industry. EverestPoker has been supporting French players for a while now.
In a statement, the company said, “EverestPoker.com has already demonstrated its strong encouragement of French players through its sponsoring of third place WSOP 2009 finalist Antoine Saout…It is highly regarded as one of the country’s preferred poker rooms and offers a plethora of French-focused promotions and events. EverestPoker.com’s exclusive partnership with Fabrice Soulier further underlines the operator’s commitment to the French poker market and to its players.”
Fabrice ‘FabSoul’ Soulier is a former television director who has had considerable success in the online poker circuit. A winner of the Grand Prix De Paris no limit hold’em event and the winner of the top prize of $135,498 at the Marrakech Poker Open in 2008, Soulier has also won money to the tune of $476, 210 at the World Series of Poker (WSOP) by finishing in the money 15 times since 2004. Overall, his tournament winnings alone add up to a cool $1.5 million.
Though a current resident of Las Vegas, Soulier is a big supporter when it comes to developing poker in France.

Mangas Gaming Buys Controlling Share of Everest Poker
60% of Everest Poker has been bought out by Mangas Gaming. The remaining 40% will stay with Gigamedia, current owner of Everest Poker. Gigamedia, publically traded on the NASDAQ as GIGM, is a provider of online entertainment software and services, and provides games that are not gambling related in addition to poker, MahJong, and other gambling games.
Mangas gaming is based in France, and operates a variety of online gaming sites including Expekt, BetClic, and Bet-at-Home. The joining of the two companies will really help Everest Poker with its recent bid to penetrate the French poker market. Everest Poker has recently brought French poker pros Fabrice Soulier and Antoine Saout to the table.
Mangas Gaming will be moving all of their poker players to Everest Poker in an effort to increase tournament size for both sites, as well as an effort to improve Everest's market penetration in France and in Europe as a whole.
Mangas Gaming CEO, Isabelle Parize, stated: “We are very proud that Everest is joining our group. It is a great company; it is a brand with an outstanding awareness in the world of poker, well known for its know-how, its platform reliability, and its strict policies. Mangas Gaming is reinforcing its position as a major European player in both the online poker and sports betting.”
Arthur Wang, CEO of GigaMedia, was equally positive on the buyout “We were looking for a reference partner with complementary activities to ours. Our strategy is to participate in the growth of this innovative and dynamic industry in Europe. We are glad to do it alongside the French leading sports betting and online gaming group.”
