Tournament strategy minimize the tables and reduce tilt
Friday December, 4th 2009 by fullhouseTournaments can become very boring, especially if you are playing just one at a time. In an attempt to cure this boredom many players will play many tournaments at a time so that they are always facing some type of action. There are certainly players who can effectively play many tournaments at a time, but the majority of poker players will struggle to maintain a solid level of play when they are stretched out over so many tables. You might be thinking to yourself that if cash game players can multi table, why can’t tournament players? The answer to this question is rather simple. When you are playing a tournament your life is on the line in each and every hand that you play. When you are playing in a cash game you will always have the ability to re-buy if you lose your stack. You might now be thinking that this information is all too obvious and that it really doesn’t answer the question, but it does. What is the number one reason that you will bust out of a tournament other than a cooler or bad luck? More times than not you will probably make a few mistakes that you will be kicking yourself for later. These mistakes will then compound into one major ball of tilt that will ultimately destroy your chance of going far in the tournament. Once you bust out of one tournament due to tilt it becomes very possible that you will bust out of another for the same reason. When you are losing entire buy ins in rapid succession it is a near guarantee that your bankroll will be unnecessarily crippled.
