RAZZ

Razz Poker now a mainstream game is an excellent choice for plenty of action and all round poker skill. The aim of the game is get the lowest possible hand, straights and flushes are ignored so Ace-2-3-4-5 is the best possible hand. Razz is a variation of 7 card stud so and is dealt the same being each player receiving 1 card at a time around the table in a clockwise direction.

The first 2 cards are dealt face down the third card dealt face up. Betting commences followed by another card being dealt to the remaining players again face up. This continues until the 7th and final card is dealt to each player face down. More betting follows the same as after every card dealt and then comes the showdown where the lowest hand wins. Sits don’t come in to play so pots can be split if 2 or more players show the same best low hand.

Most often played as a fixed limit betting but can be found as pot limit both at live casinos and online poker sites. Razz is part of the newer wave of poker games to catch people imagination and has proved immensely popular. Familiarize yourself with 7 card stud and you’re off to a good start, the only difference between razz and 7 card stud is that in Razz we are looking for the lowest hand to win.

Razz does not require the lowest hand to be under eight high as in many hi/lo or eight or better poker games, the lowest hand is the best no matter what it may be, therefore a pair can actually be the lowest hand, although unlikely it does happen.
