OMAHA HI
Omaha is a poker game played with blinds to force the action and is very similar to Texas Hold’em in format. The aim is to get the highest poker hand from 2 of your hole cards and the 5 community cards in the middle of the table dealt as the flop 3cards, the turn 1card and finally the river which is the final community card.
The blinds are posted to the left of the dealer button and each player is dealt 4 cards face down, it’s very important to remember that you MUST use two of your 4 hole cards to form your best hand. Betting commences in either limit, pot limit or no limit form dependant on the table you join. After the initial round of betting the flop is dealt which bring 3 community cards to the table, each player can use these to make their best hand. A further betting round ensues followed by the turn card which is the 4th community card dealt on to the table, again this is followed by the river card which is the 5th and final community card. Betting continues until all remaining players have either checked or called an initial bet/raise and the player who makes the highest poker hand by using 3 of the community cards and 2 of their hole cards scoops the pot.
Don’t get confused as Omaha high is simply looking for the highest hand to win the pot, once again it is important to stress you must use exactly 2 of your hole cards to make your best possible hand.
