OKLAHOMA GIN

Oklahoma Gin is an excellent version of Gin Rummy played in the same way except for a difference in the knocking aspect of the game. As usually the aim is to run out of cards by creating melds in sets or runs or by adding to other melds already on show.

In Oklahoma Gin instead of needing 10 points or less to knock, the first card turned face up in the discard pile at the start of the hand will determine the amount of points a player has left in their hand.

Example: After dealing 10 cards to each player a single card is turned face up to begin the discard pile which is added to by the players as they each draw and discard cards in turn. If this first card is a 5, a player can knock if they can also meld, then they discard and have 5 or fewer points remaining in their hand.

This game is basically Gin Rummy with an added option, an option that does make the game a bit more interesting whilst adding a further element of though and skill.
